Entrepreneurship Week (GEW 2018)

It is an honor to announce that the Myanmar Young Entrepreneurs Association (MYEA) has been selected by the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) to be this year’s host of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW 2018).

During one of the weeks in each November, thousands of events and competitions in 170 countries inspire millions to engage in entrepreneurial activity while connecting them to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors. Powered by the Kauffman Foundation, the initiative is supported by dozens of world leaders and a network of more than 15,000 partner organizations. GEW is held this year November 12-18. USAID has agreed this year again to be the main sponsor of GEW. The theme of GEW 2018 in Myanmar is “Building the Economy through Entrepreneurship”.

MYEA is aiming at having around 45 events throughout Myanmar in the period from November 12 to 18.

We would like to invite you to contribute to the success of GEW 2018. You can do this by organizing an event around entrepreneurship that is aligned with the above theme. Find below some ideas for possible types of events that you could organize are as follows:

Pitching
Entrepreneurship training
Networking
Expert talks
Roundtable discussion
Entrepreneurship-related video viewing and discussion
Mentoring
Panel discussion
Business plan competition
Product competition
Hackathon

Of course, we are open to any other original ideas. In order to organize an event at GEW 2018, you need to be an eligible organization, such as an association, NGO/CSO, business/company, accelerator, training school or (private) university.

MYEA as the main organizer of GEW 2018 will do the followings to support you:

Coordinate with you as an event organizer about content, date, location, branding guidelines
Produce an official GEW 2018 Program Book where your event will be listed
Website and Facebook page where all GEW 2018 events will be promoted
Produce flyers and promotional material such as T-shirts that will be distributed to the participants of your event
Support your event financially up to a maximum of MMK 1 million depending on the scope of your event

We will contact applicants and award your event on an ongoing basis. So it is worth submitting your application early.
